OCEAN ARBORETUM

A series of figurative ceramic sculptures created for the exhibition of the same name in 2017. Abundant with ocean features, this exhibition depicted a sanctuary of peace and silence; a hiatus in time where gravity flows in reverse and debris floats to the surface. Featuring Wayfarers in scenes of repose amongst coral, seaweed, and hanging oyster shells with wings, the visual influence of an underwater garden is hard to miss. With soft blues, and tones reminiscent of a coral reef, the exhibition exuded the same sense of silence found beneath the surface of the ocean, or a feeling of sitting on a park bench in β€˜The Other Place,’ before a tidal rise envelopes everything to hold it in suspension.
