Memento Mori

Clairy Laurence has always embraced topics of death and rebirth as major contexts throughout her work, and the Memento Mori series is the centre of that exploration. The transience of life ad the clear certainty of change are explored in much of the symbolism that Laurence uses, and in Memento More it takes the form of skulls wrapped in new growth and wreaths of flowers, and wall hangings called Portals, which show a wider picture focusing into a symbol at the centre of a vortex. The Portals often depict themes of religion such as compassion, sacrifice, suffering and death, and came from a deep journey into the nature of religion.
